White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci was part of a group that bought a Mike Piazza jersey to put it on display.

This isn't the first time new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has been called on to try to save the day.

Scaramucci was part of a group that bought Mike Piazza's game-worn, No. 31 New York Mets home jersey that he wore in the Sept. 21, 2001 game against the Atlanta Braves, the team’s first game back after 9/11. The group won bidding for $365,000.

The jersey was sold by the Mets to a collector three years before Scaramucci's group won the auction bid. Piazza, who hit a game-winning home run in the jersey, was upset the team had allowed it to be sold originally.

Scaramucci, who was at that Sept. 21 game at Shea Stadium and is a self-proclaimed huge Mets fan, and his group promised to display the jersey at the Mets' home at CitiField, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York on a rotating basis.

After Scaramucci's group bought the jersey, Piazza tweeted: "Huge thanks to Anthony & Tony for coming through! My family & I couldn't be more pleased knowing the jersey will be where it belongs. Thank u!"
