So, is O.J. Simpson Naples-bound?

Former NFL football star O.J. Simpson reacts after learning he was granted parole at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nev., on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

His close friend Tom Scotto, who lives in East Naples, has offered the former NFL star a place to stay at Scotto's condo in Southwest Florida.

Simpson was granted parole Thursday by a Nevada parole commission after more than eight years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel-room heist. He said that if released, he would return to Florida, where he was living before his incarceration.

O.J. Simpson's sister Shirley Baker, center, daughter Arnelle Simpson, left, and friend Tom Scotto, of Naples, react after O.J. Simpson was granted parole at Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nev., on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

The weekend of the 2007 robbery, Simpson was in Las Vegas to attend the wedding of Scotto, who did not accompany the former athlete and five accomplices who confronted two sports memorabilia dealers in a casino hotel room.

Scotto, 55, said this week that he would be happy to have Simpson live at his home.

Michelle Glady of the Florida Department of Corrections said Simpson would be assigned a Florida probation officer and supervised under the conditions of his parole.
