Two Milwaukee police officers injured by hit-and-run driver

Two Milwaukee police officers were injured Thursday afternoon when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver on Milwaukee's north side, police said.

A car hit two officers Thursday near N. Sherman Blvd. and W. Villard Ave., police said.

 

The officers were on foot patrol shortly before 5 p.m. at N. Sherman Blvd. and W. Villard Ave. when the driver struck another vehicle before striking the officers and fleeing, according to police.

The officers were taken to a hospital, according to a news release that did not indicate how seriously they were injured.

Both officers, a 54-year-old man with 14 years of service on the police department, and a 43-year-old man with nine years of service, are assigned to Milwaukee police District 7, according to the release.

No further details on the incident were available Thursday evening.
