Cruise Maven News: Fred. Olsen Around the World Cruise in 107 Days

Want to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Sydney, Australia? If you have at least $14,000 lying around, here’s the perfect cruise for you.

Fred. Olsen cruises has just announced their 2018-2019 Around the World cruise including a visit to spectacular Sydney Harbour over the New Year holiday. Sail on Fred. Olsen’s 804-passenger Black Watch on a 107-night global voyage round-trip from Southampton, November 12, 2018.

If watching the fireworks in Sydney on New Year’s doesn’t get a tick on your travel bucket list, other once-in-a-lifetime experiences on this cruise include a look at Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat, a complete Panama Canal transit via the newly-expanded lock, a day at the beach in Bora Bora and a visit to the engineering wonder of the Taj Mahal.

The journey back around the globe includes Singapore, India, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean, Petra in Jordan, James Bond Island in Thailand, and the Burg Khalifa – the world’s tallest building – in Dubai.

More ports of call:

Southampton, UK; Lisbon, Portugal; Funchal, Madeira; St John’s, Antigua; Roseau, Dominica; Bridgetown, Barbados; Kralendijk, Bonaire; Cartagena de Indias, Columbia; Cruising Panama Canal; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Puerto Caldera; Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia; Rangiro; Papeete, Tahiti; Bora Bora, Society Islands; Crossing the International Date Line; Nuku’alofa, Tonga; Mystery Island (Inyeug), Vanuatu; Sydney, Australia (two overnight stays); Newcastle, Brisbane (overnight stay), Cairns, Darwin; Komodo Island, Indonesia; Singapore; Phuket, Thailand; Kochi, Kerala, India, Mormugão, Goa, Mumbai (overnight stay), Dubai, UAE, Khasab, Oman, Muscat, Salalah; Aqaba, Jordan (overnight stay); Cruising Suez Canal, Kusadasi, Turkey; Cruising Strait of Messina; Naples, Italy; Gibraltar; La Coruňa, Spain; and finally back to Southampton, UK.

Built in 1972 for Royal Viking Line and originally called Royal Viking Star, the ship was refurbished in 2016. Black Watch attracts a majority of guests from the U.K., many of whom are over 55 yrs. Children are welcome but will be in the minority; the kid’s program operates only during holiday season.

There’s still space available for the Black Watch Around the World Cruise. Compared to other cruise lines’ round the world prices, this one is a pretty darn good deal.

  1. Hi Emma, Well maybe if someone won the lottery…then they could do both the world cruise and many mini cruises!

  2. $14,00 lying around :’) can you imagine?! ha ha.

I think I would prefer to cruise around the world on lots of mini cruises rather than one big one. I think I’d get bored of the same ship after a while. Obviously, I would still love it… but I think I would choose differently if I was booking it for myself.
