The Waukesha-born Americana band BoDeans, featuring co-founder Kurt Neumann (center), performs at the BMO Harris Pavilion during the city's annual Independence Day fireworks display on July 3, 2016.

Every Thursday at 8 a.m. on WYMS-FM (88.9), 88Nine Radio Milwaukee program director Jordan Lee and I talk about shows to see, local music you'll love and more on "TAP'd In." But in case you missed it on air, you can hear the latest episode below.

Ask anyone on a Milwaukee street corner what is the most successful rock band to come out of our city, you're likely going to hear one of two names: Violent Femmes and BoDeans.

These days, their members are scattered around the world, but as fate, and routing, would have it, both groups are playing hometown shows Friday at Henry Maier Festival Park.

Jordan and I preview the Femmes BMO Harris Pavilion concert (with Echo & the Bunnymen) and BoDeans' Festa Italiana headlining set.

We also preview three intimate shows at coffee houses this weekend, because if you're feeling like I'm feeling, you could benefit from a little pick-me-up with your live music during this stretch of summer.
