Two standout emerging acts from Summerfest 50 — alternative rockers Barns Courtney and Mondo Cozmo — are playing a second festival in Milwaukee this year: the eco-friendly Rock the Green.

Cozmo, who's turning heads with his sweeping, Laurel Canyon-indebted breakout single "Shine," was a highlight on Summerfest's final day, according to the Journal Sentinel's music reviewer Erik Ernst. Courtney meanwhile was so invested in his Summerfest performance June 30 he leaped from the Miller Lite Oasis stage and broke his foot.

Returning to Reed Street Yards in Walker's Point Sept. 9, Rock the Green will also feature Baio, a side project for Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio, plus Milwaukee artists Reyna and Evan Christian on the main stage.

Local acts D'Amato, Klassik and Devil Met Contention will play a pedal-powered stage. Two bands from Girls Rock MKE, a program where local girls write songs, form bands and perform live, will also play that stage.

The 10 acts announced Thursday will join previously announced headliner Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals. General admission tickets for the fest, running from 2 to 11 p.m. Sept. 9, are $50 at rockthegreen.com, or $100 for VIP passes. Children 10 and under are free.
