What to do in Milwaukee this weekend: Festa Italiana, Waukesha fair and more

Festa Italiana serves up Italian food, culture, music, history and more at Maier Festival Park this weekend. Festa has five entertainment stages, with highlights including the Flag-Throwers from Florence and a memorial salute to accordionist and Festa stalwart Dick Contino at 6 p.m. Sunday on the Miller Lite Stage. Festa is at Maier Festival Park, 200 N. Harbor Drive, from 3 p.m. to midnight Friday, 11:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. Admission at the gate is $13, free for kids 12 and younger.

The Waukesha County Fair — at 175, the state's oldest county fair — continues through Sunday at the Waukesha County Fairgrounds, 1000 Northview Road. Waukesha. Headliners at the Miller Lite Main Stage include Theory of a Deadman at 8 p.m. Thursday; Bret Michaels at 8 p.m. Friday; Night Ranger at 8 p.m. Saturday; and 1964 — The Tribute, a Beatles tribute show, at 6 p.m. Sunday. There also are three more entertainment stages, livestock judging, a demolition derby and more. The fair runs 10 a.m. to midnight Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission at the gate is $10, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 and younger. Parking is $5.

Milwaukee's VoodooHoney Records hosts a two-night Amy Winehouse tribute Friday and Saturday at Company Brewing, 735 E. Center St. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. both nights, with more than 15 performers on the bill. Admission is $10, or $5 with a dinner reservation (for reservations, at 8:20, 8:30 and 8:40, call (414) 930-0909 or email reservations@companybrewing.com).

To prepare you for next month's solar eclipse, the Manfred Olson Planetarium at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 1900 E. Kenwood Blvd., offers a show on "The Sun’s Disappearing Act" at 8 p.m. Friday. The show, which repeats Fridays through Aug. 18, explores how civilizations have interpreted eclipses, and the role the celestial events have played in history. Admission is $5.

Croatian Fest returns Saturday and Sunday to Croatian Park, 9100 S. 76th St., Franklin. Highlights include a cultural program Saturday at 2 p.m., live entertainment and children's games both days, a Mass at 11 a.m. Sunday, and all that great food, from roasted lamb to fritule (a doughnut-like Croatian holiday treat). Admission is free.
