Lincoln County Transit vans offer raids throughout Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs.

Many individuals in the community have voiced that they want a more accessible and improved public transportation system.

Medical students Clare Batty and Mattalynn Chavez said public transportation is vital to all communities including Lincoln County. Public transportation benefits a multi-generational community, including those who are retired, working and students. Such services increase access to medical care, therapy and grocery stores. It also can decrease social isolation as it provides a means for community involvement. Establishing a sustainable public transportation system can benefit the community as a source of economic revenue, provide a safer mode of travel and allow individuals to accomplish daily errands and responsibilities.

The goals of the project are to raise awareness about the necessity of public transportation and advocate for expansion of transit services. The group hopes that this project will gain continued local interest and support.
