Two bears were found dead Wednesday in Collier County.

The first was found blocking traffic on Golden Gate Boulevard and appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, according to Michelle Batten, a Collier County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

Deputies removed the medium-size bear from the road near Max Hasse Community Park in Golden Gate Estates, Batten said.

The second bear was found about 6 p.m. on State Road 29 near Interstate 75.

The bear was removed from the road, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was notified of both bear deaths, Batten said.

No information about how the second bear died was available.
