It's National Ice Cream Day! Here's how to get it free today

It's a glorious day today. And not just because it's Sunday.

It's National Ice Cream Day, which always occurs on the third Sunday of July (which is known as National Ice Cream Month). 

If there's a day on the calendar - other than your birthday or the holidays, of course - where you shouldn't feel guilty about indulging on a delicious cone or simply ice cream in a bowl, it's today. And luckily, you can find it for free if you play your cards right.

McDonald's: Free ice cream cone

You can get a free vanilla soft-serve cone at McDonald's today - as long as you download the McDonald's app. Easy peasy!

Cold Stone Creamery: The eClub

While Cold Stone Creamery doesn't seem to have a specific deal for National Ice Cream Day, you could join its eClub, which offers two "creations" for the price of one, plus other deals, including a "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" coupon on your birthday. Not bad if you've got a sweet tooth! 

Baskin-Robbins: App deals

If you download the Baskin-Robbins app, you can access new offers and deals not just on National Ice Cream Day, but throughout the year.

Sonic Drive-In: Half-price after 8 p.m.

Looking for a late-night fix? Head to Sonic for half-price shakes and ice cream slushes after 8 p.m.
