Aaron Rodgers is a competitor at everything.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback has won a Super Bowl and the NFL's most valuable player award twice.

But before he returns to Green Bay for training camp later this month, Rodgers is showcasing his golf skills this week at the American Century Championship, an event in South Lake Tahoe, Nev.

The tournament is a 54-hole modified Stableford format that features celebrities in sports and entertainment.

Rodgers carded a 74 in Friday's first round, which puts him in fourth place with 22 points. Former major-league baseball pitcher Derek Lowe leads the field with 25 points (70).

Rodgers scored an eagle on the par-5, fifth hole and had birdies on No. 8, No. 11 and No. 17.

San Jose Sharks center Joe Pavelski, a native of Plover and who played college hockey at Wisconsin, is in third place with 23 points (70).

Other celebrities competing with state ties: Burlington native Tony Romo (14 points) and former Bucks guard Ray Allen (14) are tied for 20th; former Brewers pitcher Trevor Hoffman (10) is tied for 33rd; former Packers quarterback Doug Pederson (8) is tied for 43rd; former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk (minus-1) is in 64th place; Bucks coach Jason Kidd (minus-8) is tied for 73rd; former Packers defensive back Charles Woodson (minus-23) is tied for 85th.
