The coaches recruiting versatile forward Joey Hauser, who is entering his senior year at Stevens Point High School, likely will have to wait at least a few weeks to learn his college choice.

Stevens Point coach Scott Anderson initially thought Hauser might reach a decision shortly after the July evaluation periods, the first of which began Wednesday.

“I felt a lean towards that at one point,” Anderson said by phone this week.

But a recent trio of visits – to Wisconsin, Marquette and Michigan State – in a four-day span appears to have affected Hauser’s timeline.

“He came back and it was more muddied, I guess is the best way to put it,” Anderson said. “He felt (conflicted) again. ... Let’s face it, he is a high school kid who has got three awesome opportunities at three great places.”

UW, Marquette and Michigan State at this point are the three teams in the running to land the 6-foot-8 forward for the 2018 class.

Hauser, one of the more versatile frontcourt prospects in the Midwest, is scheduled to be in South Carolina this week with his AAU team, the Iowa Barnstormers.

“His timeline is kind of fluid at times,” Anderson said. “There are times it could happen after July and then there are other times when I feel like he will take official visits in August and maybe September even.

“I think it comes down to once he knows in his mind, maybe even in his heart, that this is my school and this is where I want to be and I’m ready to pull the trigger on this thing, that is when he’ll make his decision.”
