Servisair Lounge, Heathrow Terminal 1

The Servisair Lounge at Terminal 1 is the location where most of the lounge membership schemes and one-off purchase schemes put their customers. With Star Alliance and British Airways (Domestic and International) Lounges in the airport, there is little need for more then one pay lounge.

The Servisair Lounge is located above the Bridge Bar, near to the Star Alliance Lounge and is a good ten minute walk from the domestic gates. A visit costs about £17.50 and can be booked via the Heathrow Airport Site.

The lounge itself has no windows and the seating looks like it escaped from the 1980’s. The staff are friendly once they has ascertained that I was allowed in. You can collect the WiFi code from them also.

The major problem is that behaviours of the other passengers is not what I am used to, but as they were not typically members of other lounges or they could have been there, perhaps I should not be surprised. Tables were cleared periodically and there was a reasonable selection of newspapers magazines. No showers but there are toilets within the lounge.

This is the lounge that Virgin are using for their new UK domestic flights – Little Red – and their Gold Card holders and people transferring from Upper Class flights receive a Lounge Invite that they collect at the door.

Summary

Worth missing unless you have no other options at T1 and it was quieter than the Terminal

  1. Good to see that the decor has not changed in the years since BA used to fly from T1 and I had no status (so a long time ago!)

Not that the Star Alliance lounge in T1 is up to much either, and don’t get me started on the farce that is the Star First lounge. Aer Lingus was better than I expected when I was there 18 months ago, and of course the ex-BMI lounge is very pleasant.

Really, apart from the 3000 VS miles per return I struggle to see any reason to use the VS service at all, especially with just 3 frequencies a day on 2 of the routes.
