Frequent Traveler University in April is Sold Out — Book Your Tampa Tickets Now

Next month’s Frequent Traveler University in Northern Virginia has been sold out for months. Some folks have been able to secure tickets because, while tickets are non-refundable, they are transferable up to about four weeks before the event. So folks who bought tickets speculatively, or who discovered they had work or other conflicts, were able to transfer tickets to those who remained alert and jumped on the opportunity.

Today marks the last day where April Frequent Traveler University tickets can be transferred. In all, we expect 650 people at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner April 26-28 — the biggest gathering of frequent flyers ever.

They’ll come to hear from me, Randy Petersen, The Points Guy, Lucky from One Mile at a Time, Million Mile Secrets, Seth of Wandering Aramean, Frequent Milers, Rapid Travel Chai, plus Hans Mast and Chris Guillebeau, and representatives from Award Wallet, Expert Flyer, and Starwood Preferred Guest.

Topics will cover award booking, credit card signup bonuses, generating miles from purchasing (and reselling) merchandise, and plenty of tricks and tips that folks are willing to share in person but don’t write about in forums on on blogs. And the opportunity to meet, get to know, and network with fellow frequent flyers is invaluable.

While the April event is sold out, and the opportunity to transfer tickets ends this evening, the next event is available: Frequent Traveler University Tampa, September 27-29.

Tickets are available here, and includes the Friday evening cocktail reception and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday.

This event will be held at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. A hotel booking link is now available. The group room rate is $119 per night.

You can find Milepoint.com discussion of the event here.

If you’re coming in April and will be arriving early, there’s an opportunity to attend the Randy Petersen Travel Executive Summit will fellow frequent flyers and industry reps on Friday morning (proceeds to charity).

And whether you’re coming in April or September I look forward to meeting you in person!

  1. Had no idea that tickets weren’t transferable after a certain point. I have one I can’t use, so message me on twitter @CTravlr if in need of one.

  2. So Gary are these tickets like airline tickets in the old days where you could have your kids fly under your name to maximize miles or will Homeland Security be at the hotel carding attendees? And will scalpers be allowed to stand out in the front of the hotel hawking last minute seats? If I can walk up at a World Series game and dole out the cash it seems only right to be able to that for miles!

  3. I am so excited about this event, I just got into this point collecting, and attending this conference, I’m forgoing the one in Tampa, however, I’m going to the one in Chicago…

  4. I’m wondering how useful these frequent traveller conferences are for international attendees (I’m Canadian). After a few months of reading different blogs, I came to the conclusion the “points game” as some call it isn’t worth it outside the US.

Am I wrong ? What can I expect to get from that conference as a non US-based traveller?

  5. Last week we just finalized our sponsorship agreement with FTU. We will have a booth and will be launching our own frequent-rider program at the DC FTU next month.

Oh, by the way, we will be providing special rate ground transportation (black sedan, limousine, SUV and shuttle service) from IAD/DCA and BWI for FTU participants.

    Contact us for more details!

  6. What do you mean by that today is the last day for transfers?
    Just trying to understand.
I was under the impression that you just turn up with a valid ticket?(barcode), and any ticket exchanges were outside the system?
    Thanks

  7. I have a ticket I can no longer use for the April event. Please let me know if you want it! I didn’t realize today was the last day to transfer tickets as well :/

  8. I also have a ticket to the April FTU that I can no longer use and didn’t realize there was a deadline on transferring it. Glad to sell it if it will still be honored.

  9. Yea me too. I’ve got two that I can no longer use because of military obligations
