Passenger in pickup towing race car killed in collision with semi in Dodge County

A passenger in a pickup truck towing a race car was killed in a crash with a semi-tractor trailer Tuesday in Dodge County.

The crash happened about 2 a.m. on northbound U.S. Highway 151 near Gunn Road in the Town of Calamus, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.

A 27-year-old Iowa man was operating the 2006 Ford pickup truck towing a trailer with a race car inside when he began to approach the rear of the semi. He swerved to the left lane to avoid the semi but ended up striking the rear of the semi. His 42-year-old female passenger was ejected and died at the scene.

The Iowa man and the 29-year-old semi driver were uninjured.

The crash is still under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
