Delta operates the 4th longest flight in the world as of today. Due to the distance and demand, this flight is difficult to secure two business class awards at the low level.

However, this December, there are multiple days when Business Elite seats can be secured for more than two people at the low award level. There are even a few days in November available for two people in Business Elite. But don’t take my word for it, check out the award search results below.

Availability In December To Joburg

Delta’s award calendar is showing plenty of availability for two seats in Business this during December of this year.

The Delta flight is operated by Delta’s 777-200LR with flat-bed seats. This is a great seat and considered one of Delta’s best seats in the sky.

Bottom Line

Finding one, let alone two, Business Elite award seats available at the low level on the 4th longest flight in the world is unique. But what is more interesting is that by the time this flight takes off, it will be the 2nd longest flight in the world.

This is so unique it is tempting to just hold the award. But I’m already holding enough awards. So who’s got enough Delta SkyMiles to hold this award?

  1. “Finding one, let alone two, Business Elite award seats available at the low level on the 4th longest flight in the world is unique.”

Only because the flight is operated by Delta.

Plenty of other flights in the top 10 have much better availability than this one much of the time. Number 1 and number 2, EWR-SIN and LAX-SIN operated by SQ, have excellent award availability when redeeming Singapore Kirsflyer miles for instance.

And does anyone else find it cheeky that Delta has a separate award zone for South Africa that’s 10k miles more each way than the entire rest of Africa..?

  2. It’s unique, but then again i’m never particularly desperate to fly a US-based carrier overseas, let alone Delta…

  3. Hi Gary – Re: “Only because the flight is operated by Delta.” I totally agree.

They are stingy with the dinjy when it comes to award availability on this flight. And yes, it is very sneaky to add extra mile requirement for South Africa.
