After hearing several rumors over the past week, Hyatt confirmed Friday the purchase of The Driskill hotel in downtown Austin.  The Driskill is a gorgeous 127 year old property with a perfect location in downtown Austin near the “Raucous on 6th street” .  While the hotel is haunted, I have enjoyed several late nights sipping martinis at the bar without incident.

The landmark hotel will keep The Driskill name. The hotel does have a home on the Hyatt website though it is currently in limited fashion.  It appears the hotel is bookable as a category 5 Hyatt at 18,000 points per night.

The bottom line

This is an exciting addition of a great hotel in a great city to the Hyatt hotel portfolio.

  1. I would advise anyone over 21 staying at this hotel to not even bother going to any bar east of the location. Dirty, nasty college bars…head across congress to warehouse district or west 6th. Way better.
