Room 101 – Premier Inn, Heathrow Terminal 5.

I had a late meeting in Southampton, and an early flight from Heathrow, at the start of my most recent trip. As it was a mid-week departure most hotels around Heathrow were very expensive – the Sofitel at Terminal 5 was more than GBP£220. I decided I would give the Premier Inn, Heathrow a chance. An advance purchase rate (no change/no refund) rate was £39. How could I go wrong?

Arriving at the hotel late, I noticed that whilst there were check-in staff, guests were encouraged to check-in via a bank of machines in the lobby:

Entering my name, booking code or the credit used to make the purchase generated a room key and the room number! In my case Room 101 – so it was with some trepidation that I went to the First Floor. The lifts required use of the room key to get to the floor. It is a large hotel (created from a converted warehouse) with nearly 500 rooms:

The room was close to the lifts, but I experienced no noise during my stay.

The room layout was fairly typical for a Premier Inn:

There was a small TV with a small selection of channels, a kettle with cups and coffee. WiFi is free for 30 minutes but chargeable after that.
My view was of the wall of an adjacent building. There was no aircaft noise during my stay which was a pleasant surprise and the road did not disturb my sleep either.

I left too early for Breakfast (which can be pre-purchased from the web site at the time of booking), but there was plenty of room in Reception to sit:

Vending machines provided a selection of drinks and snacks:

I used the bus to get from the hotel to Terminal 5 – as it is in the free transport zone. Running about every 20 minutes, the 423 runs from right opposite the hotel to T5, in about 10 minutes:

Overall
An excellent stay, a good nights sleep, excellent links to the airport and a good price! What more can you ask in an airport hotel?
