The 16-year-old Milwaukee boy who was shot Sunday near N. 38th and W. Center streets died from his injuries Monday, police said.

The victim, who was identified by police as Emani J. Robinson, was standing with several other people on the sidewalk when a man fired gunshots at them, according to a news release.

News brief

Robinson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Investigators do not believe the teen was part of the incident that led up to the shooting, according to a department spokesman, who did not specify what the original incident was.

No arrests have been made and no other details were immediately available from police.

Family and friends took to social media Monday and Tuesday to remember the teen — a son, brother and uncle — and offer condolences. His sister wondered in a post how someone could shoot her young brother, who she said never did anyone any harm.

"Please pray for our family," she wrote. "My heart is torn."

Robinson is one of two teenagers killed by gunfire in Milwaukee this year. In February, 14-year-old Chrisima Murry was fatally shot during a fight near N. 50th St. and W. Fairmount Ave. Police have not made any arrests in her homicide.
