The good news: Construction for the Milwaukee Streetcar project on W. St. Paul Ave. in the city's Third Ward will stop during Summerfest.

The bad news: You'll still have to watch out for lane closures on other city streets near the festival grounds.

In particular, N. Jackson St. and N. Broadway have the most construction activity, according to the city's Department of Public Works.

Here are specific areas to avoid:

  • Lane closures are expected on N. Broadway between E. Clybourn and E. Kilbourn avenues. Some intersections may be closed. Pedestrian access is available on N. Broadway.
  • Crews have started track work on N. Jackson St. between E. Kilbourn and E. Ogden avenues, which is currently down to one lane northbound.
  • There's utility work underway on E. Ogden Ave. and N. Milwaukee St., but one lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

Festival-goers can also ride the Milwaukee County Transit System's local routes from Bronzeville, the East Side or Bay View; the Downtown Shuttle with service every 15 minutes; or the Freeway Flyer from the suburbs.

More details about bus routes to Summerfest are available on MCTS' website. You can also visit Summerfest's official website, summerfest.com, for more information about parking and transportation.
