Alamogordo fashion model is top 10 in Jetset Magazine cover model search

ALAMOGORDO — Alamogordo’s Victoria Parker, 19, is just a few steps away to becoming Miss Jetset 2017. Parker is competing against thousands of women all over the world to land a cover of Jetset Magazine and a chance to win $100,000.

The Daily News recently profiled Parker and with the community’s help, they boosted her in the top three in her group in the first rounds of voting.

Jetset Magazine’s cover model search is currently in phase five of the competition which ends June 28. Parker is currently in fourth place and needs the community’s votes more than ever.

Phase six will select the top five models from each group which starts June 29, voting ends July 5. Voting for the group winners in phase seven will start July 6 and end July 12. The group winners will advance to the semi-finals and second place will advance to the wild card round.

From there, voting will reset July 13 through Aug. 2. Public voting will determine the top five finalists and a winner will be announced on Aug. 2.

“I am currently in the top 10 in my division,” Parker said. “There’s 18 other groups with 20 models and right now I’m in the top 10 of my group.”

Parker, who describes herself as a small town girl with big dreams, said she’s aiming to be a top 10 finalist but winning the cover of Jetset Magazine and title of Miss Jetset 2017 wouldn’t be so shabby either.

“What I’m aiming for is to be a top 10 finalist, if you make the very top 10 you get to go to a hangar party which is pretty much a red carpet party and you get to bring your top voter with you which is really cool,” she said. “Everyone has been very supportive. There’s been a lot of people who have added me on Facebook and they tell me they support me and are voting for me every day.”

Parker has been busy since her interview with the Daily News, the attention booked her 12 photoshoots, and one photoshoot will be shot by a well-known high fashion photographer from New York in Albuquerque.

“I’ve been traveling for photoshoots, I have 12 coming up in the next month,” Parker said. “I’ll be doing high fashion and glamour shoots, I’m just trying it all out to expand my portfolio.”

Parker said if she were to win the cover of Jetset Magazine and win the $100,000 cash prize she would spend some of it in the town she calls home, Alamogordo.

“It’s been a long journey but if I were to win I would help organizations in Alamogordo because this is where I started and this is where I’m from,” she said. “I would also of course invest in my modeling career and help my parents fix their house. But I honestly wouldn’t even know what to do with all that money…”

Parker said winning the cover of Jetset Magazine would open so many doors for her and thanked everyone who voted for her.

“I would blow up I think and end up in many magazines if I won. I’m just a small town girl and I never expected myself to do this or be in this competition. If I do win, I want to make Alamogordo proud and represent,” she said. “I want to thank everyone who has voted for me and continue to vote for me especially my mom and dad, they’re my biggest fans.”

According to Jetset Magazine’s website, this year’s winner will arrive at their hangar in a private jet and be put in a luxury hotel for a lavish three-day photoshoot.

In addition to over $100,000 in cash and prizes, the winner will follow in the footsteps of Katy Perry, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie to grace the cover of Jetset Magazine, according to the website.
