Teen critically wounded in one of two separate shootings

A 16-year-old boy was critically wounded in one of two shootings in Milwaukee Sunday and Monday, police said.

The boy was shot shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 3800 block of W. Center St., according to a news release.

The boy was standing on a sidewalk with several other people when a male assailant opened fire on the group, according to the release.

The boy was taken to a hospital and a suspect was being sought, police said.

The second shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 4200 block of W. Villard Ave., where a 30-year-old man was walking and heard gunfire before realizing he had been shot, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital with an injury that is not life-threatening, according to police, who were seeking a suspect in that shooting.
