Good week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections as of the week ending June 22nd remain ahead of what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year. The 2016/17 marketing year for corn, soybeans, and sorghum runs through the end of August. The 2017/18 marketing year for wheat started June 1st.

Wheat came out at 629,070 tons, down 111,051 from the week ending June 15th, but up 115,301 from the week ending June 23rd, 2016. Early in the 2017/18 marketing year, wheat inspections are 2,257,371 tons, compared to 1,706,648 towards the outset of 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 965,608 tons, 254,722 lower than the previous week and 485,619 below this time last year. With less than a quarter left in the 2016/17 marketing year, corn inspections are 47,597,631 tons, compared to 33,864,155 tons late in 2015/16.

Soybeans were pegged at 315,099 tons, 24,200 tons higher than the week before and 19,283 above a year ago. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 52,217,718 tons, compared to 44,429,240 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 75,712 tons. That’s a decrease of 43,985 tons on the week and 45,993 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 5,008,709 tons, compared to 7,489,481 in 2015/16.
