The Alamogordo Daily News appreciates your input to the Community Calendar. To make sure items can receive proper attention, all information should be received by the newspaper at least five business days prior to the event. All coming events print on a space available basis and in chronological order. Events can be emailed to communitynews@alamogordonews.com. All the information must be available: contact number, location including address and not just a place name. Do not assume everyone knows. The person you wish to reach may be new to the area. Also note: it is impossible for the Daily News to answer all emails received in a single day.

Tweens Group: for grades 4-7, will meet Monday night, June 26 at the Alamogordo Public Library, 920 Oregon Ave., from 6 to 7 p.m. This week, we will be making gel shape candles. Free Lunch Program in Tularosa: Free lunch will be served to kids, age 1 to 18, in Tularosa from noon to 1 p.m. everyday from June 5 to July 28, except for July 4. Lunch to be served in James Vigil Park, 600 Fresno Street. For more information, call 585-2080.

Free Summer Kids Meals in Alamogordo: A variety of free meals, breakfast through supper, will be served to local children at 11 locations from June 5 to July 31. Phil Lease Writers Group: The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday, every month at St John's Episcopal Church, 1114 Indiana Ave. The meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in the church library. Alamogordo City Commission: There will be a Public Meeting at 4 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Alamogordo Public Library, 920 Oregon Ave. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and hear public opinion related to the 2019-2023 ICIP. Latte with the Padre: Each Wednesday Father Tom Lowe from St. John’s Episcopal Church, Alamogordo, will facilitate a weekly coffee and conversation session, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Plateau coffee shop in the Lowe’s grocery store, 675 10th St. Open discussion on topics of general interest. Fourth of July Parade: The City of Alamogordo will host the annual Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m. Parade begins at Alamogordo Family Recreation Center on Oregon Avenue at continues west on 10th Street to New York Avenue. The 2017 theme is What Makes America Great and floats will be judged by a panel of local celebrity judges. Parade is free and open to the public.
