Scenes from the Paris Air Show: See what you missed in 2017

The 2017 edition of the Paris Air Show is wrapping up this week, and -- as usual -- a number of interesting storylines have emerged from the latest edition of the event. 

Boeing bested Airbus in what Reuters described as “a red hot race for new business” at the show, recording 571 net new orders to 326 for Airbus. The tallies exceeded expectations in what was forecast to be a slow year for orders.

Beyond that, Boeing officially unveiled a new version of its 737 (the Max 10) and also teased the development of a brand new 797 model, something that CNN says "has become the most anticipated airplane in commercial aviation." Among air carriers, a new "world's best airline" was crowned on the show's sidelines. 

And, of course there were the aircraft displays that are the hallmark of the show. In the air, the Airbus A380 and Boeing 737 Max made some of the most-memorable performance-display flights. On the ground, the static displays featured a wide range of aircraft. And there were many quirky and cool items on display at this year's show, including (but not limited to) a selection of flying cars and bikes.
