Pork, beef stocks down on year

U.S. pork stocks at the end of May 2017 were down 4% on the year at 592.127 million pounds. Good export and domestic demand helped cancel out some of the impact of record monthly pork production. That demand did pull pork belly stocks to a new monthly low. Beef at 412.872 million pounds was down 10% on the year and below the five year average for the month because of solid demand.

Poultry in cold storage was up 4% on the year at 1.322 billion pounds, with a 3% decrease in chicken to 785.302 million pounds canceled out by a 17%year to year jump in turkey to 533.565 million pounds.
