Stevens Point's Joey Hauser (left) has narrowed his college choices to Wisconsin, Marquette and Michigan State. Joey's older brother Sam will be a sophomore at Marquette.

Joey Hauser, a 6-foot-8 forward from Stevens Point, will take an unofficial visit to Marquette on Friday and Saturday.

Regarded as the top basketball player in the state in the 2018 recruiting class, Hauser ranks 29th in the 247 Sports composite rankings. In his three seasons at Stevens Point Area Senior High, Joey — the younger brother of Marquette rising sophomore Sam Hauser — has led the Panthers to three straight Division 1 state championships. In this year's championship game against Arrowhead, Hauser poured in 33 points and 21 rebounds to lead the Panthers to an 85-56 victory.

Hauser, a first-team all-state selection this season after being a second-team all-state pick as a sophomore, has been highly sought after by Michigan State, Wisconsin and Marquette.

The Golden Eagles, which currently project to have only one open roster spot for the 2018-'19 squad, have made Hauser a priority. When the April open recruiting period began, Marquette's first stop was to visit Hauser in Stevens Point on April 6.

While Hauser's visit coincides with Marquette's Centennial Hoopla event on Friday, he is not expected to attend. Instead, he will visit with current Golden Eagles players.
