Knouse Foods names new CEO

Charles Haberkorn is the new CEO of Knouse Foods Cooperative Inc., effective July 1, 2017.

Adams County's largest employer has a new man at the helm.

Earlier this month, the Knouse Foods Cooperative Inc. board of directors named Charles Haberkorn as the CEO effective July 1, according to a news release.

Haberkorn is replacing Ken Guise, who was elected CEO in 1996 and president of the board of directors in 2000, according to the news release. Guise will continue to serve as president and chairman of the board.

Knouse Foods, responsible for some of the county's apple production in the Fruit Belt region, is the largest employer in Adams County, ahead of Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Hospital, according to a 2016 state Department of Labor and Industry report. The company has food processing facilities in Peach Glen, Biglerville, Gardners, Orrtanna and Chambersburg.

Haberkorn joined Knouse Foods in 2007 as director of supply chain management, according to the news release. The company elected him vice president of strategic planning and supply chain management in 2011 and general manager in 2015.

Knouse Foods also announced the appointment of Michael Binkley, a Biglerville High School graduate, as vice president of manufacturing, according to the news release.
