Marquette’s McNamara, DeMichiei drafted in MLL

Marquette's Ryan McNamara was selected in the MLL draft on Monday.

 

Marquette University lacrosse players Ryan McNamara and Andy DeMichiei were both selected in the Major League Lacrosse draft Sunday in Foxborough, Mass.

McNamara, Marquette’s all-time leading scorer, was drafted 49th overall in the sixth round by the Rochester Rattlers.

McNamara is Marquette’s all-time leader in numerous statistical categories, including goals (102), points (152), games played (64) and game-winning goals (10). He helped lead the Golden Eagles to back-to-back Big East tournament championships as a junior and senior and the first two NCAA tournament appearances in program history. McNamara set single-season program records for goals (40) and points (57) as a junior.

DeMichiei went 80th overall to the Ohio Machine with the eighth pick of the ninth round. He was an all-Big East second-team selection as a senior while posting 16 goals and a team-high 16 assists.
