Finding out Puppy Cake makes ice cream for dogs and meeting founder Kelly Costello was the highlight of my Blog Paws Conference experience #pawsdown

PUPPY CAKE MAKES ICE CREAM

The idea came to her while working on a client’s (Pillsbury) advertising material. As she looked at the old cake mix ad’s she thought –

Wouldn’t this be great if they made that for dogs?

LIGHTBULB MOMENT –

Hard work converted a thought into a reality. Shortly after her 22nd birthday, she was in business. #yougogirl

Puppy Cake made their debut on Shark Tank (no deal) and the exposure created an explosive increase in sales.

A year later her product line went from 3 items to 16 and she was able to work at the company full-time! #girlsruletheworld

I first tried Puppy Cake in 2013 when I made a Red Velvet Valentines Day cake for Harley and Leo… #doodlememory

LET’S TALK ICE CREAM –

Temperatures here in the Holy City have been rising. Harley spends most of his afternoons directly under the ceiling fans…

A few weeks ago, I ordered ice cream for everyone from a drive thru window.

It was dooodlelicious going down but later that night and several days afterwards Jaxson kept dragging me to the curb. #poopapalooza

Human ice cream doesn’t agree with him.

Purina makes a frozen treat called Frosty Paws, but if I can’t pronounce most of your ingredients (soy products, unnatural additives and whey) your product remains in the store. #mydoodlesmyrules

That’s what led me to those Golden Arches.

Never again!

PUPPY SCOOPS –

PUPPY CAKE MAKES ICE CREAM

Kelly keeps it simple. #halledoodlelujah

She uses ingredients I’m familiar with –

  • whole milk (lactose free)
  • cane sugar
  • gelatin
  • sale
  • natural vanilla flavor

Easy and convenient.  Comes in a powder form – so I can make it when I need it…

Now when I want to treat myself to a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey #dontjudgeme – they can have their own sweet treat right along with me.

Add 2/3 cup of hot tap water to the ice cream container and stir gently until well blended…

 PUPPY CAKE MAKES ICE CREAM

It smells like vanilla pudding!

Replace the lid, and place in the freezer for at least 5 hours…

…and BAZINGA!doodleliciousness is ready for consumption!

MISSION STATEMENT –

I like a company with a mission statement. This tells me, someone was conscientious enough to carefully think about what and why they do what they do.

Puppy Cake seeks to provide a healthy and satisfying treat for dogs and a fun experience for their owners. We use only human grade and natural ingredients in our products because we believe that Puppy Cake is held to a higher standard. Customer service is a top priority that we take very seriously. We first want to make sure every customer, from consumer to retailer, has a great experience. We stand behind our product 100% and will work to ensure satisfaction with every transaction. Our company wants to further the well being of canines throughout the US by donating a portion of our profits to animal rescue organizations.

Harley wanted you to know he helped…

Stop by on Wednesday so he can show you how his ice cream turned out.

ONE MORE THING –

This is NOT a sponsored post. I’m just sharing a product that I approve and the Boys love. If you want to try one, looks like their ice cream product mixes are on sale on their website.

Other ice cream flavors offered are –

  • Peanut Butter
  • Maple Bacon
  • Carob

Gotta get that maple bacon for Jaxson.

In memory of many, in honor of all – Memorial Day 2017

If you’re a dog what better flavor ice cream is there?

Oh, thanks for reminding me, I have some of this in my cabinet just waiting! We got it in our subscription box. I had made the cheesecake one once and the dogs loved it, but we haven’t tried the ice cream yet (I think I have another cake one too). I’m going to have to get that out for a nice summer treat.
I wish I had stopped by and talked to them, but somehow I missed it.
