West Bend West coach wins his 400th game

Bill Albrecht picked up his 400th victory as a head coach when West Bend West defeated South Milwaukee, 12-0, on Saturday.

One victory served two purposes Saturday for the West Bend West baseball team.

The Spartans defeated South Milwaukee, 12-0, at home to improve to 4-0 and give coach Bill Albrecht his 400th victory. He is the 18th summer coach to reach the milestone.

His record of 400-106 gives him a .791 winning percentage That is the best of any active summer coach with at least 100 victories, according to the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.

Waterford 9, New Berlin West 7, eight innings: In a summer-spring matchup, Waterford scored five times in its final two at-bats to give coach Lance Bestland his 300th victory.

Junior Aaron Chapman hit a home run and drove in three for the Wolverines.

Seniors Matt Korman and Ryan Jungbauer had two RBI each.

Menomonee Falls 12, Sussex Hamilton 1: The two-time defending state champion scored five runs in the first inning. Brennan Beck went 3 for 4 with three RBI for Falls.

Waukesha West 5-3, Homestead 4-18: West scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to win the first game. Dain Hudson and Trey Grassl had two hits each in that game for West and drove in a run.

In the other game, Ben Price went 3 for 5 with two doubles and four runs batted in for Homestead. Eric Zoeller and Joe Panella had three RBI each.

Franklin 12, West Allis Hale 2: Carson Manning had a triple and home run and drove in four runs for the Sabers. Nathan Aide also hit a home run and drove home three.

Brookfield Central 1, Wauwatosa East 0, 10 innings: Nathan Denofre brought in the winning run. Adam Baade threw 9 2/3 innings and got the victory.
