PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

MLB: Colorado CF Charlie Blackmon

Leadoff hitters aren’t supposed to be big run producers but don’t tell that to Blackmon. Entering Saturday, he had knocked in 14 runs in his previous seven games, batting .438 with three home runs along the way. For the season, he was batting .337 with 12 homers and 45 RBI.

Brewers: RF Domingo Santana

Santana got off to a slow start this season, batting .169 over his first 21 games. Since then, he has been swinging a hot bat, with a .342 average over 24 games entering Saturday, with four homers and 17 RBI.

BREWERS THIS WEEK

While many of you are firing up the grill Monday afternoon to celebrate Memorial Day, the Brewers will be preparing for a late afternoon game in New York against the Mets. After that four-game series, it’s back home for a tough stretch against the Dodgers and Giants.

DID YOU KNOW?

Since his major-league debut in 2008, Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw has made 273 starts and allowed three or fewer runs in 229 of them.

YOU FIGURE IT OUT

The Cubs have been known for their “theme” road trips under manager Joe Maddon and they embarked on another one to the West Coast on Thursday. This time they paid tribute to the movie “Anchorman.” Of course, the Cubs’ itinerary includes a stop in San Diego, home to legendary movie anchorman Ron Burgundy. “I’m sure teams have done it before,” outfielder Jason Heyward told MLB.com. But you can never get enough.
