Two women arrested in Ventura, Los Angeles county burglaries

Mariah Moya-Long, 24, of Port Hueneme.

Two Port Hueneme women were arrested this week in connection with vehicle burglaries reported in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, authorities said.

The arrests were made as officials investigated a string of vehicle burglaries and thefts in Thousand Oaks and the Oak Park area in early April, Thousand Oaks police said. Cash and credit cards were stolen and the cards were used to make several hundred dollars worth of fraudulent purchases shortly after the burglaries occurred, police said.

Mariah Moya-Long, 24, of Port Hueneme, was identified as a suspect in the crimes and a search warrant was served at her home about 9 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Halyard Street, authorities said. Moya-Long, 32-year-old Tabitha Bernhardt and an Oxnard man were at the residence during the search and were detained, authorities said.

Tabitha Bernhardt, 32, of Port Hueneme.

Stolen property was found linking Moya-Long and Bernardt to more than 10 vehicle burglaries in Oak Park, Thousand Oaks and Los Angeles County, police said. Two ounces of methamphetamine and other items indicating the drug was being possessed for sale were also found, authorities said.

Moya-Long was arrested in connection with conspiracy to commit a crime, vehicle burglary, grand theft and identity theft, authorities said.

Bernhardt was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, vehicle burglary, grand theft, identity theft, possession of controlled substance for sale and being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said. She was additionally arrested in connection with child endangerment related to her 2-year-old child being also found in the house during the search, authorities said. Ventura County Child Protective Services took the child into their custody, authorities said.

The Oxnard man detained during the search was arrested on a misdemeanor drug offense, authorities said.
