A Port Hueneme man was arrested after two brothers caught him vandalizing cars in their neighborhood, police said.

Martin Garcia, 42, was taken into custody in the 100 block of East C Street on suspicion of felony vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor providing false information to a police officer, according to the Port Hueneme Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at 11:35 p.m. Thursday and arrived to discover two men, the brothers, holding Garcia, police said.

Upon further investigation, officers alleged Garcia had been using a metal T-bar, which can be used as a shutoff key for a water main, to vandalize cars along the street.

Port Hueneme police say this metal T-bar was used to vandalize cars in Port Hueneme on Thursday night.

One of the brothers heard the noise, went outside and discovered Garcia, police said. Garcia challenged him to a fight and chased him back to his home with the T-bar, according to police.

Police said Garcia struck a car with the T-bar and then wielded it. That's when the other brother came from the home to help, police said.

The brothers ultimately prevailed, restraining Garcia until officers arrived, police said.

One brother suffered minor lacerations and was treated at the scene, police said.

Garcia was held on $20,000 bail and will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Courtroom 14 of Ventura County Superior Court.
