Woman says Golden Gate man sexually assaulted her in room where children slept

A Golden Gate man was behind bars Thursday, accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the same bedroom where her five children were sleeping.

Saul Deleon Mendez, 30, faces a felony charge of sexual battery.

The woman told Collier County sheriff’s deputies that early Wednesday, Deleon Mendez entered the bedroom where her five children were asleep and asked her for sex, according to an arrest report. After the woman refused, Deleon Mendez sexually assaulted her until her genitals bled, an arrest report states.

The woman struggled to get Deleon Mendez off her, reports said.

When Deleon Mendez noticed the woman was bleeding, he became scared and retreated to the bathroom, reports said. The woman called her landlord for help.

The woman told deputies she is afraid of Deleon Mendez because he has threatened to kill her if she leaves him. She told deputies Deleon Mendez has forced her to have sex with him several times.
