What to do in Milwaukee this weekend and Memorial Day: May 26-29

The 30th annual Family Kite Festival lands at Veterans Park, 1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Performers, among many others, include the Chicago Fire Kite Team and Frank Mots, Milwaukee's "King of Kites," with a Grand Launch of 500 kites at noon both days. Admission is free.

The Garden Bros. Circus brings its big top to the Coliseum at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 640 S. 84th St., West Allis, Saturday through Monday. On the bill: elephants, motorcycle stunt riders, acrobats, racing camels and more. Shows are at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 1, 3:30 and 6 p.m. Sunday; and 1 and 4 p.m. Monday. Tickets are $24, $8 for children, with VIP ticket packages available.

The Brewcity Bruisers take the roller-derby track in the final home season match Saturday at 7 p.m. at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $18, $15 for seniors 55 and older, members of the military, and kids ages 6 to 12.

Summer's officially here: Bradford Beach, 2400 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive, is hosting its opening beach party Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. There'll be music from 1 to 6 p.m., prizes given every hour and, from 1 to 2 p.m., a free burger with any drink purchase. Admission to the bash is free.

Milwaukee's 152nd Memorial Day parade steps off at N. 4th St. and W. Wisconsin Ave. at 2 p.m. Monday and heads east to the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive. This year's parade, with color guards, marching bands, military vehicles and more, especially honors Marine Corp veterans. A wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial Center follows the parade.
