Scott Witt, who coached the girls basketball team at DSHA for 10 seasons, will take over the boys squad at New Berlin Eisenhower after a three-year break from coaching.

After three seasons out of the spotlight of coaching high school basketball, Scott Witt is returning to lead one of the area’s top program.

Witt, who spent 10 seasons as the girls basketball coach at Divine Savior Holy Angels, was announced as the boys basketball coach at New Berlin Eisenhower on Wednesday. He replaces Dave Scheidegger, who retired in April after 27 seasons.

Witt has coached boys and girls youth basketball for Eisenhower’s district the past three seasons but his history with the school dates back to before his run at DSHA.

“I live in the Eisenhower community. I’ve lived here for 17 years and Coach Scheidegger gave me my first coaching job,” Witt said. “I was the boys JV coach at Eisenhower from 2000-2003, so I knew already back then that coaching within the Eisenhower program was really my dream job, to coach in the community where I live.”

Witt coached DSHA from 2004-2014. During those 10 seasons, Witt’s teams finished first or second nine times in the Greater Metro Conference; the other year they took third. DSHA was 164-64 (.719) during his tenure.

He is the third new coach hired by a Woodland Conference school since the end of the spring. Travis Riesop is taking over at Whitnall and Marc Mitchell has taken over at Wauwatosa West, which is joining the Greater Metro next season.

Witt takes over a team that went 20-6 overall and finished second in the Woodland West with a 12-4 record. The Lions lost to Milwaukee Washington in the sectional final. The team’s top scorer, guard Bryce Miller, was a junior.

“I’m well aware that it is going to take a tremendous amount of work just to maintain the tradition of success that Eisenhower has had and we’re going to do everything in our power to meet that challenge,” Witt said.
