  • Event offers camping, great food, music, hiking, biking, a zip line and a good time

Oregon-based band “Fruition” is one of the many highly anticipated appearances music lovers are looking forward to at the Wind Rider Mountain Festival Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28.

Fruition will be one of the mroe than 30 bands performing during the Wind Rider event at Ski Apache this weekend.

Best known for serenading crowds at some of the most notable festivals and venues across the country, Fruition has come a long way since their days busking on the street for change.Their music harnesses instruments like the mandolin, the dobro and the electric guitar to embrace the confluence of roots, soul, blues and British Invasion era pop. The result is a style that defies genre and, rather, dares to explore new musical territory.

“Rolling Stone Magazine” described Frution’s stage presence as “stadium-worthy.” Fans can’t get enough of the infectious energy, which is known to consistently bring their live audience to a fever pitch. Now that they’ve been invited to grace the stage at such popular festivals as Bonnaroo, Northwest String Summit and Telluride Bluegrass, there’s no telling where they’ll be within the next few years. Considering they’ve picked up quite the fan base so far along their journey, it’s probably safe to say that they’re doing a great job of steering the ship of their musical career, however unconventional the approach.

Fruition takes the stage at the Wind Rider Mountain Festival at 5:45 on Sunday, May 28. The band joins over 30 bands on two stages, featuring a spectrum of genres including bluegrass, jam, funk, and rock. Also included in the weekend’s line-up are The Werks, Spafford, Ray Wylie Hubbard and local favorite Jones & Miles.

A sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society master competition is scheduled, a beer gelande quaffing competition, downhill mountain biking, zip lining, camping, craft beer, delicious food and art.

General admission tickets are $85. To complete the festival experience, Wind Rider Mountain Festival will feature camping on Lower Moonshine Trail and Bunny Hill for $25 and RV camping for $35.
