Why Cockroaches Just Love Your Cooking

So what attracts cockroaches into your home? Well, it might be your cooking! Cockroaches will eat almost anything, therefore they can live off whatever they find. Any available food source can support a cockroach infestation.

Cockroaches, like many other pests, prefer to eat certain foods. They like to eat a balanced diet if it’s available to them.

Here are some of the foods that cockroaches love the most!

1. Sugar – One of the biggest lures for cockroaches is sugar. This is what they are attracted to above all else. Any sugar you use should be tightly sealed at all times. This is because cockroaches may get into it. Juice and fizzy drinks also needs to be sealed because of the high sugar concentration. Anything sweet and sugary is at risk.
2. Starch – Things containing starch, like book bindings, are what cockroaches also love to eat.
3. Grease – A ready source of fat is found everywhere, grease is a winner for cockroaches. Keep your kitchen surfaces and walls clean of grease to stop cockroaches feeding on it.
4. Cheese – If it produces a strong smell, cockroaches will love it even more.
5. Meat – An excellent source of fat and protein, cockroaches are extremely attracted to the smell of meat. Meat leftovers left out will attract a lot of cockroaches.
6. Rubbish – Think of all the food you throw away. This is a great place for cockroaches to have a feast if they want. Your bin bags are a cockroaches all you can eat buffet.

How To Stop Attracting Cockroaches

If you have any leftovers, make sure you put it all in tightly sealed containers. Always reseal packets of food (like rice and pasta) after you open them. Because completely depriving a cockroach of their food source will make sure you won’t need so much pest control for your London home.
