3 Things You Can Do Right Away
High-capacity leaders often face challenges when connecting their vision to others, but the lines get blurry among different levels of leadership. Josh tells us how to address the conflict and what leaders can do to overcome the obstacles.
- Support your senior pastor. Pastors will teeter between fear and faith while entrepreneurs seem to jump right in, because success in the church isn’t always met with applause, and people will question your motives. But keep in mind that God speaks into your senior pastor. You’re there because you both have the same goal, and you should have each other’s back.
- Set boundaries to build trust. Senior leaders have been hurt, and many are stuck in their hurt. Know that what one staff member did doesn’t mean all staff members will do you wrong in the future. Be transparent, address your concerns and set expectations up front. Put measures in place, such as placing a focus on culture, that allows you to move forward and put the ministry first. If others aren’t aligning with the mission, it may be time to separate.
- Understand differences between church and business leaders. There are several discrepancies between church and business leaders because what each leader finds valuable is so different. The individuals within each realm should connect and discuss the challenges they face to get better insight to the issues each leader confronts on a regular basis.
