COLLEGE GOLF

Marquette freshman Matt Murlick jumped 14 spots up the leader board Wednesday, finishing 29th overall after shooting an even-par 71 at the NCAA regional in Sammamish, Wash.

After playing at 8-over-par for the first two rounds on the par-71, 6,885-yard course, Murlick birdied twice to go out at 1-under before making three bogeys and two birdies on the final nine holes. He posted five total birdies in his last round.

The Golden Eagles compiled a team score of 300 in the final round and finished in 13th place.

No. 1 overall seed USC won the region with a score of 849.

NBA

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr hasn’t coached his team since Game 2 of their first-round playoff series, but he’s making progress while battling symptoms from his botched back surgery two summers ago.

Kerr is planning to travel with the Warriors to San Antonio ahead of Saturday’s Game 3. The Warriors, up 2-0 in the Western Conference finals, have dominated after Spurs superstar Kawhi Leonard injured in his ankle in Game 1.

TENNIS

Maria Sharapova is vowing to “rise up again,” a day after she was denied a wild-card entry for the French Open.

On her Twitter feed, Sharapova posted these words: If this is what it takes to rise up again, then I am in it all the way, everyday. No words, games, or actions will ever stop me from reaching my own dreams. And I have many.”
