Golden Eagles tumble in NCAA golf

It was a rough day for the Marquette men’s golf team.

MU dropped four spots and went to the clubhouse in a tie for 12th place in the NCAA Sammamish (Wash.) Regional on Tuesday. Marquette was one of three teams to complete the second round in time to be included in this edition.

The Golden Eagles, seeded 13th in the 14-team regional, had a two-day total of 31-over 599. Marquette was 24-over for the day.

Austin Kendziorski carded a 5-over 76 to lead MU. Kendziorski was at 6-over heading into the final round.

Division III men: Luke Bourneuf of St. Norbert carded a 2-over 74 and was tied for 25th after the first round of the championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Addison Lambeth of Huntingdon College held a one-stroke lead after he fired a 69.

Huntingdon College led the team competition with a total of 5-over 293. St. Norbert (321) was in 28th place and Wisconsin Lutheran (323) was tied for 30th.

BASEBALL

Six pitchers combined on a three-hitter and UW-Milwaukee knocked off Northern Illinois, 3-0, at Henry Aaron Field.

John Boidanis had three hits and an RBI for the Panthers (22-30), who closed out the home portion of the regular-season schedule.

“Tough day to hit with the wind blowing in pretty hard,” UWM coach Scott Doffek said.
