A Naples dump truck driver Thursday was issued a citation alleging reckless driving after causing a multiple-vehicle crash on Immokalee Road east of Logan Boulevard, authorities said.

Four of the people involved in the crash were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The truck driver wasn't hurt.

The dump truck overturned, and construction materials spilled onto the roadway and hit the left side of a Toyota Sienna, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

FHP blocked off the road to speed up the cleanup. All eastbound lanes of Immokalee Road near Logan Boulevard reopened about 5:30 p.m.

The driver of the Mack dump truck was Domingo Hernandez, 66, troopers said.

Hernandez was driving east on Immokalee Road in the outside lane and tried to brake before reaching an intersection, but the truck struck the rear of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, troopers said.

The Sonata driver, also traveling east in the outside lane, saw the truck in the rear-view mirror and went into the right turn lane to avoid the crash, an FHP report states. Hernandez did the same and struck the car, which went into the turn lane, jumped the curb and hit a light pole.

The truck continued east between the outside lane and the right turn lane and rear-ended a 2015 Toyota Sienna. The Sienna then struck a 2015 Kia Optima, according to state police. Both cars also were in the outside lane of Immokalee Road.

All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, FHP reported.
