College roundup: UWM edges Oakland

Baseball

Ben Chally’s RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning gave UW-Milwaukee a 4-3 victory over Oakland on Friday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

John Boidanis socked a two-run homer in the eighth to make it 3-3.

Jay Peters (6-1) struck out nine while going the distance for the Panthers (14-25, 4-13 Horizon League).

GOLF

Wisconsin’s Jordan Hahn was tied for ninth place after the first round of the Big Ten men’s championship at Baltimore Country Club.

Hahn finished with an even-par 70.

Dylan Meyer of Illinois fired a 7-under 63, setting a new Big Ten championship and Baltimore Country Club record.

The Badgers were sixth in the team competition with a total of 288. Illinois had the lead with a score of 269.

TRACK AND FIELD

Former Wisconsin standout Kelsey Card took fourth in the women’s elite shot put at the Drake Relays.

Card’s best heave was 57 feet 1 inch. Former Purdue star Dani Bunch won with a throw of 60-101/2.
