Prep baseball: Area FACA all-district selections announced

The Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-District 18 baseball honors have been released.

Seacrest Country Day first-year coach George Reidy and Gulf Coast's Pete Garcia were named Coach of the Year for Class 2A and Class 7A, respectively.

Seacrest's Matt DiNorcia and Erick Chavez shared Class 2A Player of the Year honors, and Niels Stone of Gulf Coast and Kevin Long of Estero shared the Class 7A honors.

Others selected were: Class 3A -- Player of the Year, Sam Keating, Canterbury; Coach of the Year, Frank Turco, Canterbury; Class 4A -- Player of the Year, Levi Kelly, Bishop Verot; Coach of the Year, Austin Flores, Bishop Verot; Class 5A -- Player of the Year, Matthew Price, LaBelle; Coach of the Year, Casey Hanrahan, Lemon Bay; Class 6A -- Player of the Year, C.J. Schrowe and Christian Proffitt, Ida Baker; Coach of the Year, Bobby Van Deventer, Ida Baker.

Keating, Long and Proffitt were selected as district representatives to the state All-Star Game.
