Longtime Milwaukee jazz club owner Arlis Jones dies

Longtime Milwaukee nightclub owner Arlis Jones, proprietor of jazz, Soul and R&B venues such as Mr. J's and ARJ's Blues and Jazz Club has died, Milwaukee Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton announced Tuesday.

Jones owned clubs in Milwaukee going back to the 1970s, and in 2004 ARJ's won a Wisconsin Area Music Industry Award for best live entertainment venue in the state.

Details on Jones' death were not immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
