Minnesota FFA elects new leadership

The new Minnesota FFA president wants to instill confidence in the state’s more than 11,000 members.

Katie Benson of the Staples Motley FFA chapter says she pursued a state officer position after serving as a region vice president.

“Through that role I got to reach out and talk with a lot of FFA members and really get to know them and built relationships with them.”

Benson tells Brownfield she’s grown as an individual through her FFA experience.

“The one thing that I’ve noticed that lots of members need is confidence in themselves.  And that’s one thing that FFA has definitely brought me over the past four years in high school.  (FFA) gave me a place to call home and it definitely gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and grow as an individual and as a leader.”

Brownfield interviewed Benson at the conclusion of the 88th Minnesota FFA Convention at Mariucci Arena in St. Paul.

The incoming Minnesota FFA vice president is Emily Pliscott from the Kenyon-Wanamingo chapter.
