23-acre brush fire near Immokalee airport is 100 percent contained
Fire crews fully contained a brush fire that broke out near Immokalee Regional Airport Tuesday afternoon.
It was initially reported that the fire grew from 5 acres to 25 acres, but the Florida Forest Service confirmed the fire held at 23 acres.
The Immokalee, Greater Naples and North Collier fire rescue districts fought the fire along with the Florida Forest Service.
No structures were in danger, according to Samantha Quinn, a spokeswoman for the Forest Service.
The fire was reported on the east end of the airport and did not affect airport operations, according to county spokeswoman Kate Albers.
