If you own a Dodge Caravan and Stratus or Honda Civic and Honda Accord, you may qualify for free installation of a "kill switch," an anti-theft device.

The Milwaukee Police Department, the Auto Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee and the Anti-Vehicle Crime Association of Wisconsin are offering free installation of the devices this Saturday and again on May 6.

The program is limited to makes and models of vehicles which are more likely to be stolen, according to police.

Those vehicles include Dodge Caravan and Stratus (2002-2006), Honda Civic (1996-2000) and Honda Accord (1993-1997).

Owners are asked to bring a form of identification, preferably a driver's license, with them.

Installations will occur on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and May 6 at two of the city's Department of Public Works buildings located at 3921 W. Lincoln Ave. and 3850 N. 35th St.

The program has been ongoing for several years and Milwaukee police say cars with the devices have been shown to effectively thwart theft attempts.
