Good week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports that as of the week ending April 20th, 2017, corn and soybean inspections remain ahead of what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 612,536 tons, down 72,778 from the week ending April 13th, but up 178,558 from the week ending April 21st, 2016. With less than a month and a half left in the 2016/17 marketing year, wheat inspections are 23,791,641 tons, compared to 18,048,010 late in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,453,506 tons, 123,437 higher than the previous week and 309,027 more than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 37,340,934 tons, compared to 23,016,076 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 634,877 tons, 189,179 above the week before and 352,113 larger than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 48,911,090 tons, compared to 42,726,705 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 36,265 tons. That’s a decrease of 114,910 tons on the week and 130,228 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 4,093,477 tons, compared to 6,601,528 in 2015/16.
